    Thanks.

Is the car road legal for use in the US?

I'd say it might need to have thoe continuous indicator lights fitted to be road legal...the ones like our sidelights. not sur just a guess. Try someone like UPS. they have jumbos leaving the country every day, you never know if they might be able to fit a car. It wouldn't come cheap though. Aer Lingus Cargo???

AFAIR, there can be a lot of expensive hoops to jump through before a car imported to the USA becomes legal. Things like lights, glass, bumpers and maybe a lot more. Be sure to research the issue thoroughly before you put yourself to possibly wasted expense. Also, servicing for rare/European cars can cost a lot there.

    BTW, what car is it?

    Not your ornery onager

Transporting a car across the atlantic by plane is not an option, unless your car is a Ferrari it would be cheaper to buy a second one over there.

In fact unless your car is particularly rare or unique it would probably be cheaper to sell it here and buy a similar one over there. Cars in general are far cheaper in the US.

In any case there are lots of shipping companies that will take single orders. Some specialise in car shipping and will assist with the legal requirements.

The car will be put in a container, either on its own in a small container or with other freight in a large one. Will probably take a few weeks depending on where it has to go to and how quickly it is processed.

Whatever you do make sure it is fully insured.

    Start here.

Add some chrome, spinning hub caps and it will be road legal for the US :)

I've heard of some guy who imported a Fiat Brava (or Bravo, can't remember which) into the States before, and got it registered there without any modifications done to it. Don't know how he got away with it though.

???? Maybe some hillbillies in the US think the Fiats are "Cute"

As previous poster said unless car is extremely rare you will buy it cheaper in the US. I was on hols in California last year and couldnt believe the price of cars : DIRT CHEAP

I often thought the same thing myself.

Maybe the Americans see Fiats as exotic Italian sports cars. :p

Don't know why you might want to do this. Unless it is a car already on the road here, it may be difficult register it iin some states, a definite case of "know the rules" before you purchase. However, you can always use if on a track if nowhere else.

Next, where is it now?. ROI, UK, EU, USSR?.

Contact NatRoss in ROI. otherwise, check your yellow pages. Ask your employer about re-location services, if they are an multi-national operation.
