After a good start the results have been a bit up and down as of late, one thing I've noticed is that the system works a lot better on g/s or better ground than it does on soft or heavy. At the moment I give the going the same weighting in my overall rating for all goings types, if I had of given the Going a higher weighting when the ground is soft or heavy results would have been better. These are the type of things I had hoped would come out in this trial, I won't change anything until after the 100 races and then I'll do some detailed analysis of results and hopefully come up with some more accurate ratings in the future.

As it turns out the Level Stake profit would have turned out more or less the same as using a staking plan. I'm pretty much back to where I started profit wise now.

I'm not sure about you MasterK, but January played havoc with my NH betting. Looking back, October and January seem to be traditionally bad months for me (October's results are probably due to the season change-over, and January may be down to the weather). Have you noticed a change of pattern in January, and do you think it has affected these ratings?

Without doubt, I think the biggest single factor that affected these ratings was in the going which in October/November/Early December is generally Good/Good-Soft but come Late December/January it is Soft/Heavy most of the time. I formulated my weightings of factors based on only data for Good/GS ground so it's no surprise that there was a down swing in my results when the going changed. When I reach the 100 selections I'll so some detailed analysis of my results and hopefully be able to come up with revised weightings.

In a more general sense once the going becomes soft a lot of the early season form can be thrown out the window so it may seem that horses in form suddenly lose their form and horses with poor early season form suddenly come good, all of which for a punter is almost impossible to read hence the downswing in results.
