Anybody interested in doing an image jam?

For those not familiar with the concept it a group collaboration on a giant image. The first person does an image and the next person does one that connects to it, then the next person does one that connects to that. There are just a few guidelines.
    • The images have to be 300 wide or the whole thing is ruined.
    • The images should be 60 to 100 high.... pixels is what we are taking about here btw.
    • The next image goes below the previous and so on.
    • Try to use bold/clean colours. Photos can be difficult to continue, use them wisely.
    • Gradiants can lead to difficulty for the next person so don't be mean
    • Always remember that as well as finishing of another image you are starting another one. Let stuff hang off the bottom give the next person something to work with!!

I'll gather them up periodically and add them together here so we can see the "finished work in progress".

If anybody is looking for a place to host images http://www.imageshack.us is a good bet.

I'll start with this one maybe it will end with it too who knows?

Although I'm not the best I'd be up for giving it a go, I'll add something as soon as I can.

Before this goes to far, would you guys mind doing each entry in lossless PNG?

The JPEG compression is already ruining the look.

The last version can always be JPEG'd.

Here's mine... wasn't sure whether to continue from blistermans since you're such a whiney format whore, so I'm continuing from slide1.

    Nice one :D

Here's a completed one if anyone interested wants to know what's so great about image jams.

That's cool. Lets see if we can get this one that long.

Here's mine reposted in .png format.

Here's one. A bit abstract, but what can you do :)

This one's goes after DonkeyStyle's because I think it's handier at the end to have each one to a file of it's own. They can be joined then much easier than splitting them up. Sorry Blisterman.

I've done another one (follows Blisterman)... not sure how long it took, I just sorta zoned out listening to the SNES StarFox soundtrack with chipamp... hence the Nintendo reference I guess :D
I suppose the next person could have the pipe leading out somewhere.

    Hi All

Thought I'd give this a bash. I used the original image by blisterman and added a bit below. Gary Larson was an influence here.

That's good, jennyrusks, but I think you've missed the point somewhat :-/

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 78 ✭✭jennyrusks

I thought the point was to create one long continuous image 300 pixels wide?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,488 ✭✭✭Goodshape

    As the end result, yea.

As an individual participant the idea is to have an image that is 300px wide and about 60 to 100px high that will sync with the previous image in the 'Jam'. Just like it says in the first post.

You've gone and painted over the previous image - which wasn't even the right image to begin with (DonkeyStyle's image [url=https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/[/url] is the one you should be working with). The image you make shouldn't include the images that have gone before, it should just sync with it.

I feel like I've just had my nose slapped with a rolled-up newspaper.

Oh well, I tried, I failed. I'll move on.
