    In 1998 Dr. John "Cloud" Breslin created a single forum to enable discussion amongst Irish users of the iD Software game Quake. More forums were added and boards.ie was launched in 2000. An Irish company called "Boards" had to be used to obtain the Irish (.ie) domain name at that time.

    There ya go.
