Apache confiiguration questions

    Hi,
    I'm about to try to set up an Apache 2.2.3 web server to act a as a proxy in front of 2 tomcat\jetty servers so that i can hopefully configure it to do the following with different configs:
    1) Act as a load balancer between the 2 tomcat\jetty servers
    2) have Apache set up so that the 2 tomcat\jetty servers are in primary and failover mode.

    Can anyone give point me to any good guides? Particularly on the 2nd scenario, cant find much on that configuration.
