Hello everyone, havent been a post in here for a while but anyway as Christmas nears and Santa is making the toys, Plug might have a Revo 3.3 on the list:) My question is are radios illegal from the USA?
The radio's are 27mhz just like here but i got an email off a Traxxas repesentive saying that they are changed when shipped over to Traxxas UK to comply with some rule or law that make's them "legal". If thats the case radios that are 27mhz are illegal:rolleyes:
Also were can you purcheas a voltage converter that changed 110 volts up to 240 volts?

Many of them are illegal ...

27 AM is OK to use here for surface models, eg cars, boats etc

Well ... that sounds to me a bit like "Why contact me .... why don't you buy it on your side of the pond "

    Errr .... Why bother?
110V charger + 110V:240V converter = 2 pieces of useless kit to buy.
I would get a charger that sucks 240V and spend my money once. :)

But if you already have USA type chargers and want to use a twin item charging system I suppose an electrical shop, or supplier like Maplin would have them.

Seriously - if you get a 240V charger you can bin the useless american one, and only need one item to do the job. Simpler usually is more troublefree.

    Yeah that sounds about right!

You get the charger included with the truck, it charges the RX battery and a 7.2v battery. it I was just on about if i got if from the USA I'd have to get a voltage converter. Now i know if i buy from the UK it will run off our 240v sockets.
    Anyway, thanks for the help;)

PS. Anyone who bought a revo 3.3 from modelsport UK, how much did it cost and does it take long to ship?:)

    From what i can remember..
the 27MHz band in the US has only 6 frequencies, at 50Khz spacing. In the EU the Type approval says that any new radio equipment must have 10Khz spacings.. (hence split channels). So this is probably the adjustment they need to make for you. ( i think.. but then again its late...)
As far as the charger is concerned just get a new one.. like this..
    http://www.modelsinmotion.co.uk/product.asp?productid=1147&catCode=128&tamiya=258

Rather than gettin urself a step up transformer, which would be a whole lot more expensive than a new charger..

The Charger I use for my receiver pack on the revo ( the traxxas charger) works from my 12V supply.

Would it not be the same on the 3.3 ?

    also
Dont you have a 7.2v charger already for yout T-Maxx packs?

    Tell you what.

Add up the cost of buying me buying the revo in the first place.
    Hardly using it.
Buying all th hop-ups and rebuilding it.
Then using it for probably less than 2 hours.

Calculate what you think it is worth now and tell me.

I have had an offer some weks back that I reluctantly refused as I had planned on keeping it.
But I just hate to see it just sitting there when someone like yourself could be having fun with it. ;)

I will put it to you this way.

    First )
I am not trying to sell it but if someone wants to make a decent offer then I MAY consider it.

    Secondly)

If you want to buy it then make me an offer.
If not then buy a new one...WITH NO HOPUPS...!!! :D

    Nah.
I think to be honest you should buy a new one
Longer chassis etc. ( centre diff and rear brake I think ?)

    Anyway.
The wife bought this for me last Christmas so might not be in my best interest to get on the wrong side of her..

Your right, the new revo with the longer chassis can accept the centre diff and rear brakes. Thanks for your time anyway:)

To be used with a Comreg license.
The license names a specific location of usage.
Dunno if anyone has actually got one so far.

    Practical considerations:
UHF is direct line of sight transmission-reception only. So don't try driving around solid objects or funny things may happen while behind them.
If compared to a 35FM aircraft radio, the 2.4 gigs radio has restricted range.

It seems to me 2.4 gigs is useful when indoors and at the same time a lot of people want to do RC simultaneously.
