Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Has anyone bought a pair of glasses online and got them cheaper than the opticians? Prices seem to be very expensive especially if you want the thinner lenses.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't buy glasses online for a few reasons - they're personal reasons, I've never bought online before, but they'd deter me from thinking about it.

    1) What kind of aftercare service would you have?
    2) How do you know the frames you select will fit your face? It's all well and good to have a pair of frames you like picked out, but the difference between the ideal and the actual can sometimes be an expensive one.
    3) If something goes wrong with them in construction or shipping, how sure of a rapid response and solution to your problem are you?

Now, that could just be ignorance or cynicism on my part, but I still wouldn't risk it.

You could go into an opticians and try on the frames.. make sure you have the model number then try find it online??

I think the biggest thing would be that in an opticians if its lenses too that they take the measurements to blance the lenses for your eyes.. they might mess that up if its online

I would never in a million years buy glasses on line. They are such a person specific thing and have to be tired on before you buy them to see if they fit your face, colour works on you and it also allows the optician see how much they need to be adjusted to fit you properly.
As far as thin lenses go you have to pay for them there is no way around it. My eye sight is dreadful, I have a minus 3.75 and minus 5.25 and stigmatisim in both eyes so have to pay to get the lenses condensed, have the stigmatisim corrected in the lens and then I get a scratch proof anti glare coating on them too. Before I look at frames the lenses alone cost me €275.00.

my friend bought glasses online,it was on a site that let you upload pictures of yourself to see how they look, and they were much cheaper than the opticians.
he's had no problems with them,if I could just remember the site name.....
he got his prescription from the optician, and he said they're perfect.
