Why no mention of the Ryanair Charleroi/Dublin bomb allegation last month?

I just find it curious.

I was scanning over the recent threat sheets during my idle time in the office, and noted a report that Belgian police were questioning an Iranian over an alleged attempt to put a bomb on the Charleroi/Dublin flight on Oct 5th. I would have thought it would have cropped up here.

In my inquisitiveness, I then had a look at the RTE website to see if there was any mention over it there. Nothing.

Yet BBC has an article on it. Iran-Daily has it mentioned. At least the Irish Times picked it up. Oh well. Just surprised it stayed under the radar.

There was a mention of it in one of the Irish online papers(can't remember which, wasnt rte though) but i think it was a very minor article at the time.

[edit] I went through rte.ie for the whole period, with no mention. I suspect the guy was arrested (27 Sept) unannounced and by the time he was released, it was assessed to be a non-story.

Maybe because it wasn't much of a story.

1. Guy turns himself in, saying that he was asked by a stranger to blow up the plane with liquid explosives.

2. Guy has no explosives in his bag and police don't find any evidence to substantiate his story.

So, the media here chooses between publishing the story of someone that appears to be a few seats short of an airplane and increasing the amount of fear-based news reports or else just ignoring the story until something actually happens.

I'm glad they said nothing. There's no story!!

its still a terror threat regardless of there being much of a story or not. Although we have recieved several threats against Dublin and it has been said before that there are plans to blow up Dublin Airport but they haven't ever amounted to anything thank god.
