Looks that way, I take it its based in the Mirror Universe? Anyone any thoughts on why the Defiant and the Original Enterprise pop up in the episode. Ive never seen it.

just read the episode guide on startrek.com

Ye that was one amazing episode alright but there where other good ones as well

This is the episode that people who hate Enterprise claim was the best. I thought it was a horrible episode, totally pointless and took away from the good stuff that was being done that season.

I actually thought Scott Bakula was decent as Archer but as evil Archer in this he was utterly pathetic. I still cringe thinking of the acting in this episode and I am someone who usually could not give a toss about acting quality.

My personal favourite episode (episodes) of Enterprise were the 3 episode arc that showed the first steps toward the original federation members working together. That is what Enterprise should have been and what Manny Coto was making it. Unfortunately Brag and Berman had cliched it to death by then and Coto had no hope of turning things around.

ok, it was pretty cool, to answer your question Motley Crue, you may recall the Defiant dissapeared in the TOS episode "THE THOLIAN WEB" while caught in a tholian web and kirk was left phasing in and out of our dimension in his trendy tin foil space suit.
in ENTERPRISE they suggested that the defiant was actually brought back in time and that the tholians had it and were researching it, so Commander Archer takes the enterprise to the coordinates and rescues the ship.
i think it's one fo the positives that manny coto brought to the project with his fresh eyes, unfortunately he never got a chance and went on to produce the last series of 24

I agree completely. It was a brilliant season up that point and I was really enjoying it and then we had this, the 2 parter with Peter Weller which focused on a crew member which they never really bothered with before, and then the horrible last episode which was a total 2 fingers up to the character development that had gone on during the series.

i liked enterprise, i liked the xindi story line and one of my fav in season 1 is the 3rd episode i think and enterprise encounters a ship whose crew are having there something glands drained for nutrients (or something similar) its my believe that the attacking ship was breen.......

as well as liking enterprise the mirror universe episode was brilliant
you see i love the mirror universe i have them all on VHS and since i bought them i can legally download them so i have EVERY single mirror universe episode on my PC and i do relay enjoy them

I didn't think much of that ep either. It was trying way too hard to appeal to the continuity-porn fans. And the evil acting was indeed cringe-worthy.
FWIW My personal favourite Enterprise ep was the ones with Brent Spiner and the clones-of-Khan. I loved the opening scene where they kicked the cr*p out of some Klingons. That ep fooled me briefly into thinking that Enterpise might finally develop into something watchable.

    What character development?

I have to say, I enjoyed season 3 quite alot with the Xindi story line.
Season 4 was a bit of a let down for me. They seemed to try to shoe horn as many references to the other series as they could. The series is set far enough back that they don't need to prelude any of the other series' story lines, but they tried anyway.

Examples would be the Khan Clones, The Klingons loosing brow ridges, etc.

I thought the Romulan and Adorian stuff was pretty good in Season 4 as well.

I thought season 3 Xindi story line was good but i prefer the short story arcs instaed of one single theme for a whole season. season 4 was very good and its a pity there wasn't 1 more season to really show the beginning of the federation

That was quite a good episode more like a movie than anything else

i thought i read somehwere that they knew the 4th season was the last so they tried to tie up any loose ends, that would have comprimised their desired direction.

  • Registered Users Posts: 779 ✭✭✭mcgarnicle

No they only found out towards the end of producing the season that it would be the last. Hence the diabolical last ep.

I'm sure season 5 would have been good, some of the ideas I have seen for it were an episode focussing on the Kzinti, more section 31, the construction of the first starbase, shran was scheduled to join the crew... some good ideas and I'm sure there were more we never heard about.

Oh there was also a follow up mirror universe episode planned that would have looked at empress sato's reign.

All in all it's a shame it got cancelled. I don't think seasons 1 and 2 were bad but they were totally forgetable, I can't deny that. Season 4 had some memorable stories and I reckon season 5 would have continued with that.

    Shame really.

mcgarnicle, manny coto said on many occasions that the decision to bring back the 4th season was taken very late and thats studio talk for your on your way out. they tried to raise the ratings in 4 but were pretty sure they were finished.

If you followed enterprise from the start then you know that there was similar doom and gloom predictions from season 2. They were no worse off in season 4 than the prevous years and while not a total shock when cancellation came, I don't think they had planned for it too well. As you said the decision was made late in season 3 to bring it back for a 4th, that doesn't mean you're on your way out... the reaction to 4 was extremely positive so I see no reason they would have written their chances off.

I wish i didn't read that, I very much like the episode ideas u mentioned, tell me are they legit or just the made up ramblings of some fan that was put up somewhere and misinterpreted as being real?

I would have loved to have seen more on section 31 :(

Nah they come from Manny Coto, if we had got season 5 we would have got this. Sounds like good star trek fare, throw in the romulan war and I think you have the bases covered.

Agreed, i thought Manny Coto was going to do for Enterprise what Nick Meyer did for the movies

No it hadn't been fought. If you remember the episode where Archer is taken to the ruins of the future, he is in a library and finds a book titled Romulan Star Empire, Archer is eager to quizz Daniels on this as he has never heard of them.

I read somewhere that the war took place about 4 yrs after the end of enterpise. It can be assumed that it took place before the founding of the federation which was 10 yrs after enterprise. The way things were going in season 4 it's easy to see the war happening soon after.

Scott Bakula thinks that to be evil, one must over announciate every word. you see him blowing out his cheeks every line trying to force the words out.#

season 4 was, in general, a very good season. season 3 was as well if watched on the DVD's.

damn i liked the mirror universe episodes. espcially becuase they changed the intro for it. i liked archer as well, i thought he acted ok and for me it inspired images of an able soldier promoted beyond his abilities.

the missus didnt like it becuase the link to the real star trek universe was so teneous (the lost tos ship).

i thought it fine SciFi, perhaps not gr8 Trek.

    emporess Sato, was inspired imo.
