Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I have not seen the weather forecast of late?
    What are the projected wind speeds and gusts for this?

    Met Éireann had a figure of 70 kph on the 5 day summary this evening, the same as for Thursday. Is Thursday going to be a stormy day? They had a LP of 945 mB:eek: near Ireland.

    The GFS seems to be focusing the strongest winds this Saturday on Southern England and Wales at the moment.

    Here's the chart, the strongest winds are usually on the southern flank of a storm, as you can see, the latest run shows north-western France and Southern England getting rightly battered but it still has plenty of time to change

    The 18z run shows the storngest winds running up the english channel, but throws up another monster for Monday

    so when a storm as low, as say 930 mb, passes off the North-West coast of Ireland the strongest winds will be in the south of the country, is this correct?

    I recall in the early to mid-nineties a storm with pressure as low as 928 hectopascals passing off the coast of Belmullet and the strongest winds were recorded in the south of the country.

    Usually yes, but if the storm was moving in a north-east direction towards Scotland then most of the country would probably get the winds anyway. Or if the the low were to move on a more northerly track only the west would see the strongest winds.
