Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey all,

I applied the autumn update to my 360 lastnight.

My tv defintly supports 1080p....I even rang Sony and asked them.

When I try to change the resolution on the dashboard to 1080p the screen flickers for a few seconds and then goes back to 1080i...any ideas??

    What connection are you using?

Not all 1080p Tv's accept 1080p through component or VGA.

What model sony have you got, maybe you need to set up tv for 1080p, read the manual, look thru the picture settings menu.I dont think theres any 360 game released in 1080p ,as far as i know.

    Its a Sony KDL-46X2000.

I went through the settings and the resultion is automatic.

I know that games are 1080i....is there any advantage of using 1080p? I thought it might upscale them or somthing on those lines??

The 46X2000 will only accept 1080p through HDMI - so you wont be able to get a 1080p picture from your 360. May have to wait until MS release a HDMI cable for the xbox - when?, who knows.

If you connect thru vga, or component you,ll see 720p hd 360 games ,720p games look fantastic anyway.I dont think theres any game on sale now that uses 1080i ,nevermind p.Maybe you could watch hd trailers in 1080 p if you have a vga cable connected to the tv.YOU can dl hdtrailers and put em on dvdrw discs ,if you have a fast net connection.

many games are being released with, 720p, and 1080i graphics MODES , that should be good enough ,look at the superb detailed HD graphics on lost planet/ GOW.

I think theres alot of games being released on 360 , 720p, 1080i modes.i think 1080 p is really for hd dvds ,or hd trailers from a pc.Maybe the games u have now are ownly designed for 720p display in hd.

the tv may only display a native resolution of 1080p30 ie 1920x1080 by 30frames per second

as i understand it the xbox 360 and ps3 will be touting 1080p60 games ie 1920 by 1080 at 60 frames per second

as i understand it a FD1080p telly may "only" have a 1080p24 or 1080p30 resolution not necessarily a 1080p60 resolution
