I got the following question wrong in driver theory test..

Question was along the lines :

Which two of the following could cause a Low Oil Pressure guage reading ?

    - a. engine burning oil
    - b. fuel pump faulty
    - c. leaking oil in engine seals
    - d.

The answers were b. and c.

Could a. not also be a reason for low engine pressure ?

Did you fail the test or is it just the 1 question you want to appeal?

Engine burning oil is got to do with damaged pistons and values normally common in old engines where there is a build up of carbon deposits.

The oil pressure would still be the same regardless if there the oil slump is full or low.

I thought c would have been the answer, a leak in anything would reduce the pressure.

Never heard of any stories of anyone appealing the test. Its multiple choice.

How would a dodgy fuel pump affect oil pressure?
Is it because without sufficient fuel, the system starts cutting out and therefore pressure cannot be maintained?

Think the OP meant to say oil pump.

Low oil level would do it as well.

    Not your ornery onager
