    Hey gang.

I'm looking for a car stereo to replace a standard 02 astra cd/radio. I have gigs of music in mp3 format, so I'm looking for a way of playing them in the car from my mp3 player, which is a Archos av500. I guess a stereo with a usb port is the only way of playing mp3s from my mp3 player, other than through a cassette adaptor or burning dvds full of mp3. I want it to have bluetooth so it can sync with my phone for making/receiving calls.

A friend has this sony bluetooth car stereo, which is pretty cool except in order to play mp3s you have to burn them onto a disc.

    Thanks

Do any of these work with the Astra in dash display and steering wheel controls. I thought I saw here before that there isn't. Could be wrong.

If the headunit has an aux input (most decent units have them but check before you buy) then you can use your mp3 player with a phono to jack cable connected to it

A Sony head unit with CD Changer control and remote input can, with the aid of an adaptor, be made to work while maintaining your display and controls. Had one in my previous Vectra, worked beautifully. Sold the Vectra, kept the stereo and controls. As it happens, you could have the controls for a very reasonable price if you were interested (PM me for details)

You can get a Panasonic CQ-C1313 CD/MP3 player that has jack-plug input in the fromt for an external MP3 player (portable) for just 134.95Euro. Very good value for money, plus is a brand name. If you want a bluetooth as well the Sony is very good, also the Pioneer 55BT or 75BT

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Louie, the pioneer 75bt looks pretty good http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=DEHP75BT any idea how it compares to the sony bt5000? http://www.caraudiodiscount.com/acatalog/sony_mex_bt5000.html

If I bought either of the above online, how much would it cost to get it professionally installed? Would it work out cheaper if I bought it through the person who installs it?

Id go with the pioneer, but im biased as ive just not liked the features or user functions on Sony headunits ive owned.

Fitting is a diy job in fairness, its literally pop out, connect block, pop back in and away you go

Depends on what you like yourself.
Some people likes Pioneer some likes Sony, so it is you that decides.
There are companies in Ireland that will not fit products that haven't been bought from them, so ring arround to get some prices.
