    Conceded our 1st goal :(

Hardest game we have played yet mainly due to our own disorganisation, they were the best team we have played but we may it hard for ourselves.

They scored from a corner and we scored from a free kick, they had most of the ball but we had the most chances. Other that their goal i dont think Bernie had to make a save other than catch crosses, whilst their goal lived a charmed life with 3 penos not given by a mental ref, and Andy and Jules both hitting the bar and missing a few chances between them.

Overall we should have nicked it on sheer amount of chances, but they were a good side and their no2 was the best player i have seen in the league yet.

Great game to play in tho.

    Bernie
    Me Shay Mark John
    .........Neil
    .....Simon
    Colm...........Enda
    ...Jules...Andy(goal)

    Mikie for simon
    Darren for Colm

Really? I think that's a bit of an insult to the rest of the league. He was pretty average. Won a few headers (by leading with the arm) and had a long throw. Not a lot else imo.

Why, noone else has stopped Jules scoring.

Sure he played centre midfield in the first half and had nothing to do with us not scoring then. We did score when he went centre half though.

    Report in the Wiki.

Does anyone else feel like doing these, not that I mind, just if someone else wants the chance?

I thought we were unlucky in the first half, with Neil's free kick fizzing past everyone in the box, all it needed was a touch.

Then in the last ten minutes we definitely should have wrapped up the points, but for some unlucky finishing. I think we are very good at soaking up pressure, sometimes pressure we have brought on ourselves granted, but the back four looked fairly solid again I thought.

We said last week that a better team would have exposed us, I think we are underestimating ourselves, Templeroan were a better team, but we didn't look too uncomfortable against them.

I think you're right Des, we're actually a fairly decent team. If we can start to offer more on the right side, and a little bit extra attackwise in the centre (am hopeful that Sav will be back soon to offer this extra threat), we'll have become a very good team. There’s noone can say we don’t deserve top spot at the moment.

They were a good team last night, and on balance, we should have beaten them even when understrength. We do seem to soak up pressure well, but we also break very quickly when we get it. Based on the amount of clean ball we get, the attack are creating a very healthy amount of chances. Second-half we kept our heads and played ball to create some space instead of shooting on sight. I’d 3 shots on target with good power keeper did well but could’ve made him work harder, andy could have had a couple more, and Neil was very unlucky with the header: some days they go in, others they don’t, but the fact we’re making those chances even with little ball means we’ll do well under pressure, and should get good results when we’ve more of the ball.

A midweek or Saturday training session would be a good idea alright cos we could work on a few things and give subs a chance to impress. My back is getting progressively worse, on the painkillers again today, and experience has shown me that a second session a week sends it over the edge, but I’d try show up for the set piece practice and what have ya.

Wanker of a ref though. Well able to take decisions going against us so long as they’re made by a ref who knows the rules, but this lad was a chump.

Interesting game....could have gone either way, but we should have nicked it at the end with those few chances.

I think we would massively benefit from a training session. Although finding a time to suit all would be tricky, not to mention location.

It is clear from the many "wingers need to track back more" that Im not at the right fitness level...but im working on that....my point being that an extra session together could be used to point out and work on our weaknesses etc...getting our positions right, set pieces, fitness...whatever it is.

Anway, we're doing pretty good so far. Hope it continues!

I think it's more that most teams use the wings/flanks as a main threat going forward so a winger not tracking back will be noticed much quicker than, say, a Central Midfielder who has another CM and 2 Centre Halfs behind him. A fella would have to be Maradona to run thru the centre of the field and score a screamer whereas all it takes is one ball down the channels followed by a half decent cross and bang, goal.
I will say, the few times I've played Right Wing, you are expected to be up and down that touchline all day ;)

...try playing Wing Back - you pretty much end up doing the running for two people....

Yeah I also need to work on my fitness, I got tired early on in that match and was quite happy to get a sit down during the 2nd half.

Would love a midweek session, lets check availability of some astro places with floodlights. I'll get in touch with railway union sandymount anyway.

I find it's equally as important to pace yourself in any competitive game, last season I would be sprinting around the pitch like a lunatic only to get knackered after 10mins, no joke, 10mins! Of a 90min game...:o

You always need to start well, but not get sucked into letting the other team dictate the pace of the game, let your opposition player know you're there but don't panic or rush into needless tackles, being over enthusiastic in the opening period is not always a good thing.

    It's a mind game too!
