Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Some tickets still available for Derrys cup win (i think we are in it not sure tho) Kenny will be in charge for Derry who obviously cant get over the fact he left or get another manager.

Will update with media previews (all Derry so far)

Well, as a Cork City fan, it is important to me that Derry win this, simply because if they do, we get Inter Scroto and Setanta.

And besides, Derry are such a lovely club, who wouldnt wnat them to win ;) ?

EDIT: Just looking at your sig KDJACL, which game you going to miss?

He's missing our game, for shame ;).

As for the game itself, I'm sure Derry will be massively fired up given that its Kenny's last game at the helm and last weeks disappointment. Pats will need to be at their very best to get something from the game, but I'm sure they will be there or thereabouts. Should be an entertaining game, I'll probably get most of it in before our game.

Reckon it'll be Derry by the odd goal in three, possibly after extra time.

It does go to extra time, doesn't it? If we have a "repeat" of Bray-Harps in '99 Landsdowne might never close.

Better be the Cup Final tbh.

    I hope you both lose!

Tough to call, want Pats to never win the cup again, or at least for it to hit 50+ years! :D Don't want those jesters getting a meaningful trophy either!

I reckon they should give it to us, so we can sell it for scrap and pay our players for a day. :) If I had to pick a day, I'd pick paying them for a Tuesday. I like Tuesdays.

    Going along.

Derry fans are always good to listen too and if they win we will get into Setanta & Europe albeit the Intertoto.

How is it that City get into Europe by Derry winning the cup?

I thought it was the Cup Final losers that would take Derry's place in Europe?

(Like how Gretna got into Europe in Scotland)

Nope if we dont win we get nothing, if we win we in Setanta and Europe. If derry win the euro and setanta spot they got from the league drops down to Cork.

I dont really care if we win once we play well.

Would have only been the case if Derry had won the league.

    Which they didn't.

Martin out for Derry, Maguire suspended. Other than that both teams at full strenght.

    Pats probable
    Ryan
    Quigley1 Brennan Foley Frost
    Murphy Mulcahy Foley Rutherford/O Connor
    Keegan Molloy.

Rutherford/OConnor the only decision to be made.

Personally I'd play Sean Connor. He's more of a threat than Rutherford.

Rutherford is more likely to kick the ball into an open window of the Dart than onto Keegan's head and I think Sean Connor has a real bight in his game.

Please be a dry day and a Derry win, no offence!;)

There's a tornado due, according to the weather forum. Will it be caused by a mesmerising McCourt dribble? :p

If Pat's don't hold on they don't deserve to win it.

Three times they've been in the lead now.

Fair play to Derry. Pats should of won it though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,147 ✭✭✭Ronan|Raven

Hard luck to Pats, was hoping they could have held on and won it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Well done Derry, unlucky Pats. I am delighted for my personal selfish reasons that Derry won though.

    Poor attendance I thought.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭wheres me jumpa

Very entertaining game. Hats off to both sets of players who endured horrible conditions. Some great goals scored despite the weather.

Great game of football in horrible weather. I was out in it this morning and the wind was unreal. You have to feel for Pats after going in the lead three times but suppose they didnt deserve to win if you give away the lead three times. You have to feel for Brennan as well to score an own goal that loses you the cup final.

    Congratulations to Derry!

P.S. I didnt think the attendence was too bad keeping in mind the horrible weather.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,982 ✭✭✭Big Ears

Great game , and a great advert for the league .
    Poor KdjaC.......................

    What was the attendance ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭d22ontour

Great game, lousy weather though.I thought Pats were gonna hold on but some of the defending for the Derry goals was desperate.Maybe next year ......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

    Terrible conditions, attendace 20k plus.

We were ****ing deadly, we tried to out play the hoofers and for the best part did just couldnt defend simple corners and frees. No complaints about the result we could have scored 7 they would have hoofed 8, shame the best pats team for good while has to end like that but such is life.

Roll on the next final

It would be, on a day like that in fairness.

Great game, very entertaining I must say! Unlucky Pats, thought they had it but luck just wasn't with them today. The wind played a huge part in some of Derrys goals. Credit goes to both teams for an entertaining game in what was horrible conditions in fairness.
