Am taking a year out at the mo and Carlow is an option. I'd be doing marketing there.

Anybody do marketing there? What are the lecturers like?
Whats the college itself like? Didn't get to the open day but my mate described it as a prefab. Harsh?
Whats the social side of the town like?
Is it true people get beaten up alot in Carlow?!
Whats accommodation like?
What are the ladies like?

A year out to do marketing? Is this a B.Sc. or certificiation you are planning on doing?

Marketing seems to be one of the better courses in the college, I know alot of people who done it and have gone on to some very nice jobs.

Are you talking about the PLC place or the I.T.? The college is 50% old building, like a large school. 40% new, modern facilities. 10% prefab like building, known as the Killeshin Centre, horrible place but marketing students will never be over there, its reserved for the computing and French students.

Very good. Not as much to offer as a city, but there is a very nice selection of bars.

Well its far cheaper than Dublin and the likes. Expect to pay 50-70 for a room.

Well I done my LC last June. I'm just working for the year.

I'm doing the four year BBS (Hons) in Business (Marketing) Course. It's a new course, replacing the other marketing course.

Was really just wondering what the IT is like and what student life is like in the town. Sounds pretty good, thanks for the reply.

Student life: IT Carlow has a hugh drop-out rate among first years, as it's so good Lots of pubs, and a good nightclub.

Ah sorry. I thought you were taking a year out to do marketing! Here is a classic example of what socialising in Carlow will do to your brain!

College is fine, especially in one of the bigger courses like Marketing. Nightlife is great. Just stay away from The_B_Man and Trilla, thats a sandwich you dont want.:eek:

Did 3 years in Carlow I.T. myself, Mechanical Engineering, easy place to learn, good lectures and a good course. Any kind of work during the year will result in decent marks. I carried on from Carlow went straight into 2nd year of a Masters in University of Sheffield. Halfway through 3rd year now and honestly it was easier learn in Carlow!! Nearly all lads in my course got jobs straight away or carried on to a university.

nightlife is the best ever. college is OK i suppese, sure but u'll never go there anyway.
