did any insurance companys ever consider covering things like clutch failure or blown head gaskets???

i would be willing to pay upto €300 more per year if the insurance company offered a mechanical warrenty too

imagine what it would do for the price of second hand cars.

No insurance companies offer to cover mechanical breakdown/failure. Thats what a manufacturers/garage warranty is for.

There is a company in the UK called Lumley Warranty where you can 'buy' yourself warranty for your car. The web site is currently down but its www.lumleyauto.co.uk They sell warranties in Ireland. It's the closest you'll get to 'insurance'.

It is getting more popular now, people will refuse warranties from car dealers, demand a discount on the purchase price and buy one seperately. Makes sense I suppose considering the difficulty in getting many dealers to honour their warranties.

It still won't cover for clutch wear, brakes or other consumables.
