Whats the average % of your income have you spent on your car i.e. 20%, 50% 100% Over a 100%

I cant really work it out. my car has been paid for, for about two years now. So its only petrol and maintenence im paying for now, I spend about 50 euros every two weeks on petrol and 200 euros every 10,000 miles. bottem line, feck all of my salary, probably less then 5%.

I presume that includes all costs: depreciation, interest (loan), motor tax, insurance, petrol, tyres, maintenance, AA cover, BIK, etc? If so:

How come? Aren't the rules very strict? First it can't be a car - it has to be a van. Then:

There will be no charge to tax, where all of the following conditions are satisfied:

(1) the van is supplied by the employer to the employee for the purposes of the employee's work,

(2) the employee is required by the employer to bring the van home after work,

(3) apart from travelling from work to home and back to work, other private use of the van by the employee is forbidden by the employer, and there is in fact no other private use,

(4) in the course of his or her work, the employee spends at least 80% of his or her time away from the premises of the employer to which he or she is attached.

To summarise: you cannot do any private miles apart from commuting and you can only be in "the office" one day a week

100% for me, all the money I earn from doing odds and ends goes on petrol. I owe friends money for all the other stuff
