    Motherwell 1-2 Celtic
    Shots on target 6 4
    Shots off target 5 2

Yeah, not pretty from Celtic. I didnt see the match but it looks like Motherwell deserved a point out of this match at least. Still, its 3 pts and Celtic remain on target to pip Rangers, assuming Rangers will drop the necessary points (2 draws, or 1 loss and 1 draw).

Celtic are now 8 pts ahead of Rangers and points on the board do count. Rangers can win 4 of their last 6 matches, draw 2 of them and Celtic would win the title on goal difference (probably).

This is going to go to the wire.

Very tough, specially when i saw Motherwell leads, but Celtic again won and thats important, now just to wait some draws of Rangers....

Phews all round. A lucky win for us in the end. 13 corners to M'well, and 1 to Celtic. What a vital corner that 1 was though, even though it was a debateable corner in the first place. I'll be glued watching tomorrows game, any slipups by the huns and its anyones title! C'mon the hibs!!!

Poor performance from Celtic, thought we were lucky to get the win. First half we weren't at the races at all. The best thing was the quick response to their goal - had we not equalised within 10 mins, I think it would have been game - and title - over.

Need to tie up Samaras though, I thought he was good when he came on, even aside from the goal, he brings something new to a game.

I don't expect the remaining games to be pretty, I'll happily take the 6 points though regardless of how rough the football is. Hopefully Hibs are up for it tomorrow, it's one of their tougher games of the remaining 6.

    C'mon the Hibees!! ;)

Great result today, now 2 points in it, with 5 games left for Rangers. I'm convinced they'll drop further points in at least 1 of those 5 games. I still think we'll drop points in 1 of our two remaining games, but our title defence looks a hell of a lot healthier than it did after Motherwell at home.

The 3 SPL games that Rangers have in one week - 17th to the 22nd of May - will be crucial. Have to hope they'll drop points in one/two of those games. 3 away games as well, Motherwell, St. Mirren and Aberdeen.

This is going to go to the wire.

Very relieved after those 2 games.

Saturday - Very poor performance from Celtic. Thankfully Motherwell weren't creating many chances because that was the worst Celtic have played in a long time. Strachan obviously sings Naka's praises a bit too much in front of his best mate McGhee because he was battered from the start. 5 fouls on him in the first few minutes. The Celtic defence was a nervous wreck. The full backs stayed back for almost the entire game. McDonald played well I thought. I think Robson's performances are overrated a little because of the guts he puts in. His first touch has been very poor since himself and Hartley started in central midfield but they're combativeness has got us this far. Anyway, we're such a different team at home. Create loads of chances but just can't finish. The strikers are as confident as they can be now though.

Today - I was so much more nervous watching this game. If Rangers won today I think they'd have won the league. I couldn't sit down for the last 10 minutes. Novo's offside chance had my heart in my mouth. Hibs played very well and it was a very open game when Rangers went 3 up front. I'm really beginning to dislike Walter Smith quite a lot again. :) I'd say Thomson got a punishment for taking that freekick instead of Boyd.

    7 May - Motherwell (h)
    8 May -
    9 May -
    10 May - Dundee Utd (h)
    11 May -
    12 May -
    13 May -
14 May - Zenit St Petersburg
    15 May -
    16 May -
    17 May - Motherwell (a)
    18 May -
    19 May - St Mirren (a)
    20 May -
    21 May -
    22 May - Aberdeen (a)
    23 May -
24 May - Queen of South

I think we'd have to hope they slip up in Motherwell. I fancy them to win the rest.

Any truth in the rumours that Walter Smith was arrested yesterday?

Reports are suggesting that he was seen being escorted from Easter Road yesterday after cornering the referee and demanding to know why the "fenian bastard" hadnt played extra time and penalties........:p

Where did you read that ADIG? Last I read was this:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/scot_prem/7384698.stm

which says they (the SPL) have rejected an extension, however at the end it says:
But despite the league's refusal to move Saturday's match, it is understood that SPL executive chairman Lex Gold and the Ibrox club are still trying to find a solution.

Rangers confirmed to BBC Scotland that their request had been rejected but have so far refused to comment further, stating that a Scottish national newspaper has exclusive rights to their reaction.

which certainly leaves things open. They need to sort this out for once and for all.

Dont worry ADIG, you lot are gonna be in Japan are you not?

Oh wait no....that was just a lie.......

    Dear Oh Dear.

I think a look into the history of the SFA might throw up some interesting facts for you Celtic supporters. Go have a look at some of the 'incidents' over the years.

Is the Rangers run in the Uefa Cup not good for Scottish football?

QotS and Dundee Utd should both tell the SPL/SFA to go **** themselves WRT this request.

Walter Smith said previously he would not ask for an extension to the season, even if Rangers got to the final. Is anyone surprised?

Gordon Smith doing everything in his power to help out his hun pals. It stinks.

But has it been Ranger's fault for the fixture backlog?

The reasons for the fixture pile up is Phil O'Donnell's death, the unpredicatble weather and because they have been successful in the FA Cup and have had to play replays because of draws.

Can't really fault them for looking for an extension.

THE SPL has turned down Rangers' request to postpone this weekend's match with Dundee United and extend the league season to May 24.

Gers had hoped to get Saturday's meeting with the Arabs called off to allow them more preparation time for next Wednesday's UEFA Cup final with Zenit.

Following meetings this morning, however, their hopes have been dashed and the United game will take place at 12.30pm as scheduled.

A full statement from Rangers chairman Sir David Murray will be issued on www.rangers.co.uk shortly.

No, but the rules are clear and the SPL appear to be willing to break them for Rangers, but not other clubs.

    Therein is the problem.

To be fair though, the unpredictable weather has affected everybody and Phil O'Donnell's death affected the Celtic v Rangers clash as well as Motherwell. However, one of the games in the pile up is the postponed Gretna game which (unbelievably) Rangers requested a postponement to prepare for their CL with Lyon. I say unbelievably as Gretna are probably the worst SPL team for many a year.

Rangers have got fixture congestion primarily due to being too succesfull, not having a big enough squad for that success and needing replays to get past teams in cup competitions.

It should also be noted that everything is still in Rangers hands ie they win their games they will win the 3 remaining trophies they are going for.

    .

Not to forget that Rangers had the lack of foresight to help the national team out before th Italy defeat.

The only game out of the whole lot to have already been played is, strangely enough, the Gretna game.

In all honesty, im not too fussed about the extension, as you said its partly down to our own successes.
But im sick to the back teeth of hearing about conspiracy theories from you lot, i really am.

Resignation threats CC...where you gonna play? The Eircom League?

I honestly believe that if a further extension was granted we would be left with no option but to resign from the SPL.

Prejudice and bias would have sunken to new lows.

    2003 events.

The league season goes on fairly on schedule, celtic manage to get dundee to move a fixture.

    2008 events

Scotland V Italy means the SFA ask teams to postpone a game
Rangers get a game postponed before the Lyone game
Phil O'Donnells sad death means the fixture list is thrown sideways.
Motherwell's pitch causes complete chaos for the whole league, not only with their fixtures but Gretnas also.

    Yes....let the open minds decide....

Anyhoo seems like the SPL have stepped back from the brink so let the best team win!
