    Hello all.

I took in a stray kitten a little while ago, she's now about 6 months old and is recovering from being neutered. While she's a bit mellow right now, she is usually very active and loves to play and climb up high.

I've been thinking about buying one of those cat tree things so that she could climb to her hearts content and have somewhere up high to lie down. I've looked at these two sites to see what's available: http://www.pet-bliss.com/acatalog/Cat_Scratchers.html and https://www.petshoponline.ie/customer/home.php?cat=528.

They all seem to be very similar and I was wondering if anyone would have any experience with any of these. I was thinking I'd get a fairly high one of at least, maybe 5' or so, and I guess I'd be most concerned with stability and how well made they are. This is my first experience with a cat and I'm assuming cats actually like and would use these things(?).

    Thanks

Amanda, you might want to start a new thread with your issue instead of hijacking this one. :)

OP, the ones we saw in the shops were fine but very expensive.
I built a cat tree for our one, she is just over a year old but has had it for a few months now. The first step that she sits on is about 2ft from the ground and the second tray is about 5 ft from the ground, they are attached to each other. I'll see if I can find a picture of it later on.

    Digitalsnap

I find both petbliss & petshoponline good but very expensive when it comes to cat trees - have a look at zooplus.ie a friend of mine ordered one from there recently & was very happy although they did wait 2 weeks for delivery (just to warn you) check their UK store too incase of price difference (no deliver charge once you spend a certain amount on the site) I have not ordered from them yet (I have my eye on a cat tree they have but it's out of stock until 2nd Dec so I will order it then - can let you know how I get on if you like) :)

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

Ruu, a homemade one is out of the question at the moment but that would definitely be a good way to go if I could.

Tabitharose, thanks for pointing me to zooplus. The customer feedback for each item is great and was just what I was looking for. I think I might go for either the Alicante or Athena but will check the local shops first to see what they have.

I, too, am interested in what recommendations can be made by cat owners. I need to purchase a bigger and better scratching post as my kitten has outgrown the one I have and now seems distinctly uninterested by sisal rope, preferring instead sofa fabric

this is the one I'm after I'd be happier if I could see it in real life before I get it but such is life. I find petshoponline.ie very good for some things (snuggle pads etc) but can't source a cat tree from anywhere else at similar prices - my local pet shop checked with his distributor & couldn't get what I was after for me :( I'll be interested too to see what recommendations others come up with.... then again I'll be ordering the Cordoba as soon as it's back in stock :) I'm hoping it's as sturdy as it looks & I like the fact that it doesn't have any of those tunnel bits on it cause I have yet to see one of those on a cat tree that's large enough for a big cat so I think they're pointless except on kitten cat trees - my 7 month old male kitten is too big for the tunnel on my current cat tree
