Thanks for that. Yes, those bags are really nice. They don't seem to ship to Ireland though. Do you know of any store that supplies to Ireland?

    I use this

Good bag, strong and does the job. Two inner compartments, one for the laptop and the other for everything else. Also has a smaller front pocket for smaller items.
The outer side pockets are handy for storing drinks.

I got a laptop bag similar to this:

It's not nearly as bulky as that though. It's really great, every weekend I have the laptop in one pouch, a folder and several A4 pads in another pouch, and in the front the cable for my laptop, phone charger and iPod charger. There's still loads of room left, and the support is so good that you don't feel strain on your shoulders at all. Can't recommend it enough, I bought it in the bag shop in Dún Laoghaire shopping centre for €50

Harvey Normans have these in stock for €49.99

Available in Black, Grey or Brown.
They have an inner padded sleeve (like the crumpler sleeve) that you can remove and use if you want to carry your laptop safely in another bag.

i got me a "sporthouse" laptop bag. www.sporthouse.ie
plenty of padding, doesnt look like a laptop bag (my house mate has a similar bag, but with no padded compartment and you couldnt tell them apart when closed) and it was also made in ireland. it also was a good price, one year later i've had no problems at all, not even with the shoulder straps, which is great as i'd often have the laptop and piles of books in it for college.

unfortunately i cant find a mention of it on their site, but i picked mine up in a fairly run of the mill outdoors shop in galway

Thanks for all the help. I went to the Laptop Shop and they have quite a few bags alright. There's a Jansport one I might get. Its the Messenger style rather than backpack the boyfriend wants. He's so fussy :)
