Well I drove from Tullow to Kildare and the best I saw was just outside castledermot where about 2 cm's was lying, it turned to sleet after about 8 am though, nice to see some white landscape even if it was only a small bit.

Don't think we'll see anymore till our usual cold spell in February but you never know.

Theres been more snow hail and sleet flurries here this morning from light showers blowing in off the sea.
It's been mainly hail with snow flakes blowing in the wind which is amazing with a temp of 6c
(The hills are very very white so I might go up there later)

Crucially though the dewpoint has gone sub zero :)

There is a lot of big Cumulus build up over the Irish sea atm but nothing on radar.

we had a few snow flakes on the car this morning and clear blue skies all day, felt quite pleasant out in the sun - 6C

Pleasent would be abit of an overstatement Gonzo!!

At least you've made me smile though as there hasnt even been a single flurry here even though we have ENE's

What?? I'm just a few miles away from you and i was woken up by thunder and heavy snow and hail and then sleet falling, there was a good thick covering on all cars etc. even on the roads there was loads of slush, that said just down the road in dunboyne there was absolutely nothing. Just shows how localised weather conditions were this morning.

Hey all. What would be the chances of seeing a bit of snow sticking in the Navan area?

What a fantastic morning, thunder, lightening and blizzard conditions, it had it all !!

Had the scariest, slowest, most exciting, best ever drive into work today - snow covered roads and fields and near blizzard conditions on the way, then desending from an artic landscape into a totally green one - loved it!

Was still snow on my bonnet and on the back of the car when parking it in work today which brought a few curious stares.

Shame that looks like that all we might see here in this snap, pretty much all melted now bar sheltered spots and the nearby mountains which are still white above 400 metres roughly.

between 9pm and 10pm last night Blessington and very immediate surrounding areas had a snow storm and the snow stuck and it was so cool (not to drive in though, that was scary). Bring on the snow!!!
Snow covered everything this mornin, a 20-25min journey took 1hr 20min+

ye the thunder happened at around 6:45am, as was all the snow.
lol by 11.50 most of it was melted. but i wasn't expecting anything at all last night so it was great to get my two favourite types of weather together; snow and lightning:D

    According to here:
    http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html

    and here:
    http://www.meteo24.com/uk/index.php?q=radar

...there is some precip in the Dublin/North Wicklow area, any reports of whats falling from it? And according to the second link that small blob will move inland, are the conditions right for a bit of snow?

Just when the winds turn northerly the showers are moving down the sea opposed to coming onshore:rolleyes:

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Tis rather typical alright.. i bet that shower will get all chunky too and turn into one of those lines! and just rug against the coast of Wicklow.. just to rub things in;)

I had a brief but pretty heavy hail shower about half an hour ago, was suprised to say the least.
Its still 2.4°C so have zero hope for anything on the ground by morning

Tell me about it, I waited for some brightness this morning before driving to work, and was on the road between Roundwood and the N11 during it, was one helluva drive, but great fun. Only knew how scared i was driving when I noticed that my arms were starting to hurt from clenching the steering wheel so tight, not joking at all - haven't ever driven in snow and blizzard conditions before.

Here's hoping we see something better(lying more) before winters out.

Hmm - that blob over North Wicklow seems to be getting bigger.

Whooooaaaaa - Just popped outside - precipitation has started - seems to be light rain now - should turn to snow. I'll keep you updated.....

Just been up on croghan mt
Theres a good 3 inches of level powdery snow \o/ all frozen underneath with some drifting maybe close to 10 inches and we were the first to make tracks in it with the jeep. That was slightly scarey as it wasnt easy to make out the verges and a 3 ft drop at the side of the lane-especially given that there was a good bit of drifting.

Great fun in the touareg! Jeremy Clarkson would be proud of us :D (especially when we had to go off [STRIKE]road[/STRIKE] lane to get round a fallen tree!)

It was very foggy and the snow started to fall as we were heading down.

The temperature difference between here and there is amazing. At 1800ft asl and just 5 miles west of here it was 0c where as here its +4.7c

One of the lads took photo's so I should have them tomorrow.
