    Hi,
I have a national diploma from DKIT in 99 and was wondering under the new awarding system is it the same as an ordinary degree under the new awarding system?

Yes. National Diplomas are now a Level 7 qualification i.e Ordinary Degree.
Level 8 is Hons Degree ( Old Degree )

I take it this doesn't make a national cert a diploma now does it?

A cert is still a cert.

this whole thing about changing the name of the diploma is a load of b*llox imo. I mean now when you are going for a job, and are asked your qualifications you need to say "well I have an ordinary degree", making it sound like crap, even lower than a diploma
