J1 info and help!!

Just wondering if anyone cud offer any advice.

I was in college last year but dropped out near the end. Im working this year.

All of my friends are still in college and have decided to get J1s for the summer and work in NYC.

I'm gonna go back to college this September (to DIT don't ya know!) but I rang USIT and they said I'm still not eligable for a J1, even though the website states eligability to anyone Returning to full-time education in autumn 2007 to continue at least one more year of full-time study on your current course or on a programme of study, ultimately leading to a degree or higher qualification which is what I am!

Has anyone else been in this situation. I was thinking if I got proof that I will be returning to college in September would I be able to get one??

Or has anyone gone to the USA without a J1 and worked illegally??? HOw did you get on? Was it hard to get work??

Any information or advice would be great!! I really don't want to spend this summer without friends!!!
