I am by no means an expert in the game but the one thing that raises blood pressure is having a team through no fault of their own has no clue what to do.

So here are some pointers that I have learnt so far.

    1. Do not become commander unless you know how to command. It isn't like some means of godhood. It is to help your team to win. You should know how to do the following before even considering becoming a commander.
    - Use aerial strikes properly. Using them when requested.
    - Proper use of sat drone.
    - How to move the titan.

Aerial striking your teammates is not funny.

    2. For the love of god if you do drive the titan do not drive it over or park over silos. If you do plan to move at all you should park it within firing range of a silo so you can use the gun turrets to take out the silo or any incoming APCS.

    3. Do not start a squad unless you know what you are doing. You should however always join a squad. A good sqaud commander is how well they keep their team alive and how quickly they can bring them into the fight.

    4. Your playing as a team. Act as one. Don't scream "Need Medic" if your an assault class player. You can already heal yourself. If stuff is damaged and your an engineer repair it.

    5. Prevention is always better then confrontation. Lay mines (where they can't see them). Man anti-aircraft guns or be ready to mount a rail cannon. AA-Guns are by far one of the most lethal weapons in the game when your playing against idiots in aircrafts. Unless they ram you they are going down.

    6. If you don't know how to drive, or fly a craft then don't!! Sure practice, but don't practice while the craft is full of people.

    7. The carrier is a drop ship and works very effectively if you want to drop troops to a fixed area. You shouldn't use the drop ship option if you are flying it while people are in. Likewise fly level for godsake so you don't ram those jumping. Likewise keep an eye on the pilot light. If that goes out grab your chute or press F1 to keep flying.

Oh and drop pods will kill anyone they land on. So watch where you land. It can also be useful to clear snipers ^__^

    8. If you know how to drive/fly that craft is always more powerful with another person in it. A well used mech for example can stop multiple heavy targets with ease.

    9. LEARN HOW TO USE THE SILO TIMERS. This can change the whole course of battle. Pressing T will show you the timers of the silos. There is no point trying to assault a silo which has 2 mins left on it when another is about to fire in 30 seconds.

A capture will cause an automatic fire. So if the enemy holds all the silos and there are two mins left, then chill for a minute, don't just capture for captures sake as you risk them refiring back sooner.

btw, a titan with no armor left can sustain 3 silo hits.

    10. Stay out of the cargo bay! Unless its one enemy in there the best place to hold are the corridors. A well held corridor is almost impossible to get into. If there is no enemy then setting up the cargo bay as a death trap is acceptable.

    11. Holding a location means just that. It doesn't mean running headlong into the oncoming enemy because your bored holding a corridor they aren't stupid enough to stick their head in.

    12. Don't revive stupid people. If your team mate has died because they ran outside, trying to get to them to revive them will mean you also die. Keep the revive for those holding in secure locations.

    13. Mine the outside of the titan. especially where ships are likely to land.

    14. If the enemy lands a ship on the titan or an APC below it, then either destroy or rob it as they can use it to respawn at.

    15. Never never park your titan right beside the other persons titan unless (a) you still have shields, (b) your turrets are working and being used and (c) your facing the right direction.

    16. If your consoles are gone then hold the reactor room. Do not stand in doorways, mine around the door (not in front). Have someone throw a turret there. Place health + ammo boxes in safe locations. Learn to use the bulletproof glass to recon before firing. Conserve ammo.

    17. If your titan shields are gone, armor almost gone and your reactor room open then your only chance to win is to attack their titan head on,otherwise it is a waiting game for them. You should do an all out attack. Leave at least 4 of varying types in your reactor room. Have 1-2 people capture silos about to expire and the rest hit the enemey titan.

    18. If you very cleverly killed someone from a good location, then MOVE. They won't fall for it again.

    19. See an enemy? Press Q and left click. Especially if you see tanks/ships/etc.

    20. Oh if your new to titan games watch the titan training video before playing.

    21. Despite what you think active camouflage is overrated. Wasting all your unlock points on it will make you bitter.

    22. You can create multiple soldiers. Learn to do this. Specialise each one. For example I have one with just the sniper tree and another with the medic tree. Yes it will suck not playing as the specialist but will anti-suck when you do.

    23. Never spray and pray. Also single fire rounds are more lethal and more accurate. If your planning to say snipe with an assault use the single round. If your holding an area from multiple attackers then burst fire.
    ....

Lastly more people are killed by running headlong into an area without recon beforehand. Always scout out beforehand and take it slow. Its not quake your playing.

you are quite wrong, the active camo has turned more than one game in my favor, especially when backed with a team mates smoke grenade.

admitedly i only have 7 unlocks left, but after playing with them all i can see the situations where each is perfectly suited. having the wrong kit in a situation can lead to you thinking its useless.

Horrible advice tbh. just get good, go for your medals maximise your pins in a round (im averaging 150-200 career points per game) and go for more unlocks. i got 6 of the higher end ranks last week, 3 of them in 1 day thanks to 3 gold badges in a row and a 2000 point ribbon. its not hard to rank up if you drive yourself to each goal.

if you make several soldiers with the different unlocks you will have to fully leave a server to change kits, this costs you fluidity and a tactical edge in a single game.

    you forgot these ones

    24. BUNNY HOP
    25. DOLPHIN DIVE

many people believe these tactics are unfair. But hey, they work so deal with it :p
    14. If the enemy lands a ship on the titan or an APC below it, then either destroy or rob it as they can use it to respawn at.

better yet strap RDX to it and wait for some poor unfortunate to spawn and BOOM free kill!
btw, a titan with no armor left can sustain 3 silo hits
    .
its far more then that more like 9-12

my main problem with new ppl on our server are the ones trying to land transport ships, nothing dumber looking then this coming up at top of screen
    dfasdfa - is no more
    noob24 - is no more
    gobsheen78 - is no more
    - its very rare that a transport makes it off the ground the first time it lands at a silo any sort of armour unit or decent engineer or recon can whack an entire squad who land in a transport. If you really want to help your team just fly up to an insane height and allow pl to pod out then abandon the transport and let some1 else deal with the falling wreckage :D

I am not saying it is totally useless, it is just not some kind of free walk where you want mode. Most people who get it seem to think this and you end up with some lone gunman who is no use to your team.

For starters, it makes a noise that is quite noticable. If you are within a certain distance you are perfectly visible and even more visible if the person is using a craft that has TV output (like the mechs secondary turret).

Add to that radar will find you as will emp. Also trying to use it to run away is tantamount to suicide.
Horrible advice tbh. just get good,

The problem is new players make bad choices. I know I was one of them. Starting a new character allows you to fully unlock a particular character much faster. Once you have a favorite then play on getting good and use the further unlocks to build the other characters.

    For example:
    http://battlefield.ea.com/battlefield/bf2142/PlayerSummary.aspx?Lang=uk&SrchName=&Profiles=&PID=85566094

This is a character that I've only been playing for maybe 2 days tops. Previous character I'd been playing for 4 days but because I made crap choices I wasn't able to play as well as I thought (had spread unlocks across all character types).

That one I just specialised on assault totally. I now have a kick ass gun with stopping power and range for sniping, nades, rocket launcher, reviver/shocker and sqaud support items.

Going to give the engineer a bash at the weekend then.
if you make several soldiers with the different unlocks you will have to fully leave a server to change kits, this costs you fluidity and a tactical edge in a single game.

You just play the game with the kit you have. If the kit isn't working out at all then just use a different character.

As it stands because my assault character is fully unlocked I'm able to drop people in 1-2 shots from distance as well as fully heal myself or anyone in a craft I'm in and have people spawn at my location.

Spreading the points when your so new to the game will just keep you noobish longer.

most important get out of the f'ing way and stop shooting the console, i've planted the demopaks. Don't know how many times i've gotten killed waiting for muppets to get away so i don't tk them.

I find when I play Titan, its best to position the titan within podding distance of 4 Silos. That way should one go down its within podding distance to get it back.

The logic is if you hold/defend the 4 Silos you win the game.

As far as Kits are concerned I personally wouldnt bother creating different toons for each kit. While I can see why it might have some usefullness I beleive that in 2142 you go up the ranks so fast it doesnt really matter.

I just picked what I though sounded cool/interesting and tried it out, you VERY quickly learn whats good any whats not, my first weapon unlock was the AA Eng gun.. a small mistake maybe ;) Ive also wasted unlocks getting the second Squad Leader drone..

Infact thats one thing I would advise early on in the game, get the ALL KIT unlocks (Sprint etc) up to level 3 and the Squad leader to Beacon level (first one).

logic being that you can use the first 3 with all the classes so it benefits all, and get the Squad leader beacon unluck so you can ALWAYS have the beacon on you if you want to be a squad leader.
I never play with any squad who doesnt have a Squad beacon. It borders on idiotic

I think they changed the squad beacon spawn in last patch. No longer can you spawn inside the titan, but ya pod outside. So now I usually use the 3rd unlock and try to stay up on the corridors on the roof as spec ops. Defend that entrance and let ur squad spawn on u there & u got the drone firin for u if u goto overlook the cargo bay , , but then changes ya'll get shot at that bit.

Dont forget field upgrades. These can be very handy.

Also smoke grenades, What a waste of a unlock. They last about 3 seconds And you can see right through them after 1 second. Good for issuing team mates where a sniper is as they explode on contact.

    ?
It's standard tradition that full game releases are far greater than their demos. As was the case with this game.

    24. When in a titan using the guns, checking the minimap before firing, if theres a blue dot near the silo or where you're firing at, check your fire. Goddam i'm sick of being hit when i'm capturing a silo. today i was in a mec, the guy hit me 6 times, christ a mec is the easiest thing to see on a minimap.

    25. Look out for the little skull and crossbones symbols. These are your own teams mines/APMs /RDX etc. Stay close to these. When they get triggered you should not be caught in the blast. If you are, then it proves that the person that planted them is a traitor and actually a spy for the other team. Punish immediately.
