Art is always good. Alternatively a Corbusier style chaise longue (you can get versions for e200 in sales) is one of the most comfortable chairs you can own
    They look like this: http://www.steelform.com/lc4.html

yeah hes pretty much starting from scratch so I didnt want to start buying him things for his kitchen etc. I wanted to get him something that maybe he wouldnt buy because of all the essentials he has to get. Thanks for those ones already!

Brabantia bins! They're stylish and practical yet expensive enough that he may not make it a priority to buy them himself.
Oh- and you can get Brabantia breadbins, coffee/sugar/tea holders and toilet-brush sets!

Of the bins or Coluter's budget?

A 50L Brabantia bin will set you back around €120 for chrome and the coloured or brushed steel ones are cheaper. Ypu can get 10L and 3L versions which are priced accordingly. The breadbin€s are €30-40 and the tea/coffee/sugar canisters are around €20/set.
