The average price for broadband services over fibre networks has fallen below that of cable networks, according to research by Point Topic using data for the third quarter. FTTx fell 12 percent over the quarter to USD 28.1, 3 percent less than average monthly cost of internet over a cable modem. The average price for DSL service fell 2.5 percent in the quarter to less than USD 25, continuing a steady decline since the start of the year. Cable prices were down 2.1 percent in the quarter but are still some USD 4.5 more than DSL.
