Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

of Qualifying for The European Championships . .

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/6162093.stm

Not sure if this is posted somewhere else, but UEFA looking to expand the European CHamps from 16 teams, to 24 teams

also to note at the bottom of the report
The idea of an expanded European Championships was put to Uefa by the Scottish Football Association with support from the Republic of Ireland, Latvia and Sweden.

ireland making note that it has no realistic chance under the current format....scotland too :)

would much rather a few extra qualifying games than a whole pile of pointless friendlies :)

We'd keep missing out on goal difference. Given that we'd do well to come third in the current group and we came fourth last time.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Just because there are (may be) extra places in the European championship doesn't automatically mean that Ireland will qualify. There is something more fundamental wrong with irish football than just bad luck - Cyprus showed us that.

I can think of a few teams who, IMO, would be ahead of Ireland in the so-called pecking order for these extra places - Russian being one.

When Ireland sorts outs its problems (like development of top-class players, getting administration correct etc.) it won't/shouldn't matter how many teams are in the European championships, we should have a pretty decent chance of qualifying regardless.
