I've tried a few times, even with a small app that Darkmaster mentioned before, but to no avail. Now I just have it bridged to the Aolynk that is supplied by Smart to make use of WAN.

I tried this Netopia Wireless Router with Smart and it didn't work. Something strange is going on. I'm assuming you are talking about the Eircom branded one. I flashed the firmware, and entered the Smart settings. It worked great for a couple of hours and then dead no ADSL line sync connection at all, showed a red light. I get the feeling this router is downloading it's own software over the internet, that makes it incompatible with Smart. Perhaps Smart is blocking these particular routers through using their MAC addresses. After all a wireless router from Smart is €140 http://www.smarttelecom.ie/broadbandfeatures.php, they may not want to lose that much of a sale by letting you use a €25 router. Anyway I managed to return the one I bought and got a refund.

Absolute nonsense! If you look in the Smart support forum you will find a post there from a Smart employee showing how to bridge the Smart supplied Aolynk for use with a wireless router i.e. any wireless router

Some time ago as mentioned above Darkmaster2 posted a link to a flash for the netopia which got rid of what seemed to be embedded (for want of a better word) eircom settings in the router.
I picked up a netopia 3347nwg a few days ago and no luck with Smart either. I did a bit of googling and found a patch here, about halfway down the page.

    http://www.cw.ky/internet/products/b...FAQs.php#76603

Near the end of the patch config, select g.lite (or something like that) and that should make your 3347nwg (or maybe other netopias) connect to Smart. Worked for me anyways!

I tried it with a Netopia I had on loan for a while and it worked fine with Smart.

I've bought Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router Part # F5D7632uk4, support page here: http://www.belkin.com/support/download.asp?lang=1&download=F5D7632uk4

I've entered my ADSL username and pass, VPI/VCI 8/35, correct DSN addresses but doesn't connect. It actually appeared as if connected but no WAN IP address. Any ideas?

I would prefer to use it as a ADSL modem as it has firewall built in and it can do NAT for me for remote access. I know I can use it in the bridged mode but really want to get rid of the other box in chain.. Any help much appreciated.
