Ive got a dell inspiron 6400 with a 1 GB of memory does anyone know how much it would cost to Upgrade to 4GB ?

And if I did Upgrade would games run a lot better ? Ive already got a 256MB ATI® Mobility graphics card but it cant play Half Life 2 on the full settings without going slow.

According to Crucial, the Inspiron 6400 will take a max of 2GB of RAM. Assuming your laptop currently has 2 x 512MB memory modules, you'd be looking at about €280 to upgrade to 2GB.

I thought 4GBs was the max you could put in it.

I doubt it. I assume you have the X1400. Thats 128 dedicated and 128 hypermemory, leaving you still with more then enough memory for HL2. Half Life 2 should run easily at 1280x800 with most options on high flawlessly, if not, then there's some other problem elsewhere. I have a Go7400 which is marginally inferior to the X1400 and run Day of Defeat Source at those settings at about 70fps.

You might also be running past what the X1400 can comfortably cope with. Make sure AA and AF are off...as long as they are, you should be able to run at the above settings without it being 'slow'.
