Kris Kringle - So What do you call it

    I was laughed out of it recently when I referred to Kris Kringle, because others called it kris kindle (without the r or a g ), which I thought was incorrect.

    It appears that the practice has several names including a somewhat intriguing title of "Gnoming" - makes you wonder.

    I've heard Kris Kringle used before but when we do it each Christmas in work it's called Kris Kindle. My personal preference would be Secret Santa.

    Well if it originates from Christkind or "Child of Jesus", the German version of Santa, then it should be Christkindel?

    Kris Kringle is an American pronaunciation for the German word Christkind. Christkind is used in Southern Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Südtirol and Liechtenstein.
