    Hi All

Trying to set up a VPN connection to my office get this error when connecting

Error 742: The remote computer does not support the required data encryption type.

Now my mac connects perfectly, can't understand why my laptop & desktop isn't.

Here's the log from the mac:

    Wed Dec 13 20:43:34 2006 : PPTP connection established.
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:34 2006 : Using interface ppp0
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:34 2006 : Connect: ppp0 <--> socket[34:17]
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:34 2006 : MPPE 128-bit stateless receive compression enabled
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:37 2006 : local IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:37 2006 : remote IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:37 2006 : primary DNS address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:37 2006 : secondary DNS address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Wed Dec 13 20:43:37 2006 : secondary DNS address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

    IP address x'd out obviously.

works fine on mac, but can't seem to get it ticking on the PC, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What operating system is your desktop and laptop using and has the VPN connection worked over them before?
Are any of your machines company issued machines?

Looks like the encryption setting on your VPN connection on the desktop and laptop are not the same as on your MAC-the setting on your MAC appears to be what the remote host "likes".

Look at some of the pages here:

got it sorted when I was in a better state of mind kippy, turned off mschap in the vpn router, turned off mschap in the client, both configured for mschapv2 and jobs oxo, both working fine.
