    Engineers say water levels on the River Shannon are approaching their highest since the 1950s following heavy rains in recent weeks.

    Many homes have been flooded in the midlands and west of the country as a result of the downpours, while acres of agricultural land have also been left underwater.

    Engineers with the Office of Public Works say one-and-a-half months' worth of rain has fallen in the past two weeks and water levels in the River Shannon are currently close to the highest on rec

    I was wondering where that new lake off the groody roundabout came from...
