8800gts is a better choice now than the gx2.
the ram in the dell is 533, I would recommend a self build with 800mhz ram
building a rig is easy and and hand selecting the parts means that you get the best components
don't worry about vista for a while
TBH you could build that dell rig with better parts for less and I would go for the lg 20' widescreen on komplett 8ms version it's really a fantastic monitor and I've been through a few of them including two samsungs that I didn't like.
Get a highish PSU something like the hiper 580 is great and also ocuk turned out a lot cheaper for me then komplett(100 cheaper)
    good luck

No sign of it yet, but it worked out as a good bit cheaper.

If your not to worried about the cost you might as well spend a few extra and get a really top line machine. Here is what I would recommend. All prices are from Overlockers.co.uk. Total price is €3,092. The same machine will cost €4,123.68 from Alienware and you can't get this high a spec from Dell.

Zalman CNPS9700-NT nVidia Tritium Super Aero Flower Cooler 73.65
