    My specs
    core 2 duo e6600
    2gb ram
    radeon 1800xt

Ok, i go to install this game and it tells me that my processor does not meet the requirements . I ignore this and get in game and look for the best widescreen res to go with my widescreen monitor, but no widescreen modes are available.:confused:
I pick 1024x768(this is the lowest res i will normally pick for games, below this imo things are ugly. The game is unplayable, so i lower the res to 800x600 and turn as many setting as possible to low. I now average 30 fps and get 20 fps when it counts(in fire fights) , the game is just about playable but looks awful.

    Game play:
The only other rainbow six game i have played is the original for pc. It was a fun tactical game. The developers have decided to take out most tactical elements and turned it into a typical stealth and shoot game.

Mouse 2 makes you duck behind the nearest object and you can peer out using movement keys. At first i liked this feature but hate it now that i realise the game expects you to use it for EVERY fight. Another down side to it is it brings you into 3rd person mode , so if you start to get immersed in the game this put an end to that.

Both ign and gamespot gave this game about 85%, which goes to show how awful those sites are because all this is, is a lazy very lazy PC port.

I have the same problem with the latest Splinter Cell game.

I have basically the same specs as you (Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM...) but the game's system checker says I don't meet the processor requirement, which is P4 3GHz.

So, I start the game anyway and its so slow its unplayable.

Does anyone know if this to be expected, that games which specify P4 chipsets won't run on Core 2 Duo machines?

Seemingly if you turn down the shadow details in Rainbox Six Vegas, the FPS performance will increase substantially

I quiet enjoy Vegas. So much so, I have it as one of the best games I've played in a long long time.

That is when I do play it. Talk about a ****ing resource hog. Good god.

Tried the install on 3 diff spec laptops, and only the core_duo, x1600 ran it. Wont even run on my pc :(

800x600 with everything turned off. Despite this, the game looked class and I'm dying to know what the Unreal3 engine can really do.

The lack of a lean function was annoying to begin with but after much gameplay [read: about the 3rd or 4th casino], the new 'cover' function ****ing rocks. I love it to bits. I actually enjoy the 3rd person view point, really shows off the animations and models well.

Seems the 1.01 patch fixes some of the memory issues with it.

R6:V is an out and out hog on your computer. Min specs are 3ghz, gig RAM, 256Meg gpu...
but if you can get past those and actually play it for some decent amount of time, it's well worth it.

As for SplinterCell...Ubisoft forums are full of threads wrt just how **** DA actually is. :(

Sorry but 800x600 looks awful even with this game engine, also alot of the textures in the game are really low quality. As it stands it dos't even come close to half-life 2.

This is out on PC? I thought it was an xbox360 exclusive and I was very impressed with the demo!

Core2duo at 3.2ghz, got the processor does not meet requirements. Seems a bit stupid to me.

Is it the case that it can only use 1 core. I seem to remember some other game that couldn't use both.

Yes like most games it only uses one core. That does not explain why the game runs so crap, since most other games run great on the core2duo.

Well is that the problem then?

If the likes of R6: Vegas and Splinter Cell only use the one Core processor than that means its only running at roughly half the neccessary 3.2GHz speed? Or am I wrong in saying this.

No its still running at 3.2 ghz or whatever you have the core2duo set to . Yes its using only one core, but that is still faster (especially for games) then a single core cpu like a pentium 4 or athlon 64.

The problem is simply lazy programming by whoever ported it from xbox 360 to PC. It's just ubisoft trying to cash in with out putting any effort into the product.

    Cheers, thanks for the clarifaction.

Its a shame really, as both games look top-notch.

I remember now it was Company of Heroes that I was thinking of, which ran perfectly on just one core but maybe R6 is different in some way.

Anyone else crashing to the desktop without any errors, only in multiplayer?!

Is it worth getting on the 360?

Was thinking of getting it for the pc but if it's unplayable at a decent level on an E6600 I don't think I'll bother with it.

There are some known bugs in multiplayer (and at least one patch out already). One is that it will CTD if you try to search for all games, you have to filter down to particular types, there's a few others too, you might find some fixes at the official ubisoft forum

Yeah just saw that on the official forums...

Although, there is a 1.02 patch out now that fixes that bug :)

The vast majority of today's games only run on a single core, because they just weren't programmed to be multithreaded. Hopefully with the parallel processing used on the next-gen consoles, future ports won't be so lazy.

@SofaKing: A core 2 duo CPU rated at 3.2GHz (or whatever speed) runs each core at that speed, its not the sum of the two. Its like having two separate physical CPU's.

I played it in the Xbox Live Centre in town there a few weeks ago on the 360 and all I can say is that the hour or so I played of it ... made me want to get a 360. Fantastic game, had great fun playing it.
