Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

VLC all the way. It's so light-weight and enough features to confuse you.

Amarok or Ampache for music, Kaffeine or mplayer for video clips

    vlc for video
    amp for music

Been trying Songbird since yesterday. I kind of like it, but invariably find myself going back to XMMS whenever I try some new library-based prog.
Xine for video - currently trying to figure out the joys of playing 32-bit codec-encoded files on a 64-bit system.

mplayer and gxine are both much more lightweight than VLC.

I mostly use totem or mplayer for video and beep for audio.

    Amarok for music; lovely software.

VLC for video because it tends to work with everything.

do any of you use Xine?
    I find its great..

Xine is very powerful but not very user-friendly.

I also used Jajuk [Java-based music player] for a while. I really liked it. Great functionality.

you'll find Xine engine is the backend for a lot of linux media players

including Amarok but what about the actual Xine video player with the graphical frontend. The remote control thing is really good and it plays DVD's like a charm.

Personally I use Audacious but that's because gentoo dropped support for xmms (no maintainers), and I use mplayer for video.
