they won't increase anything in terms of speed as only eircom can do that, well on the wholesale products anyways.

they could indeed increase the cap but meh...

Yeah, would love to see an increase in my upload speed and at least double the current cap.

Don't think there will be an increase, a tech from BT told me a few months back that the 3MB BB was strecthing it on the lines we have here. Get rid of the cap would be nice.

Yes, but don't Comreg lean on Eircom to upgrade the services each year?

Not sure, can't find anything on the comreg site relating to it.

because they werent already adsl2+ they tried to outdo platform-based competition by upping speeds and reducing prices slightly. No that their backhaul is beginning to get close to capacity and the average speed with ADSL over their fantastic copper is more or less at a ceiling now with the 3mbps service, they resorted to 1) making LLU as difficult as possible, not fixing faults for others, and 2) reducing prices on the 1mbps and 2mbps services and putting them in with bundles.

This last step shoujld be the most significant sign that eircom want people to go for the lower speed options as opposed to the 3mbps one, since they cant compete well with a 3mbps service at its price with the like of smart nad magnet, but they can with the 1mb and 2mbps as they are cheaper and not available from others and thus provides people with an entry-level option. Plus its a stopgap measure to a) increase customers and b) not overload network even more

The only leaning ComReg do is on their shovels

Indeed, but they were 4MBit until then, and I don't see any residential 4Mbit product from eircom or its resellers as of yet.
