Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone had any dealings with Jap Cars Dublin?

I was going to pop into them during the week to look at either a MR2 GTS, Celica GT or HR33 Skyline.

    Cheers

Sorry, I don't know anything about the dealers, but I can't help but comment on the name.

I can't imaging a deallership calling itself "Frog Cars" or "Kraut Cars"

That would be "The Hun Motors" thank you very much. Seriously though completely agree with you on the name, it's hilarious.

Which Mr2 GTS are you going to look at? I have probably looked at it.
I was going to buy a Gold 98 one off him but his attitude is terrible. He is a grade A prick.

A lad I work with said he dropped into him and thought 'he' was was a right wanker too....which prompted me to post this thread.

I was going to have a look at the red MR2 he's got there.
Is that crazy money to be paying for one of them? (€7,950)

I was hoping to do a trade in with my GSR for a saloon civic they have. So any more info on the place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,454 ✭✭✭mloc123

The Red GTS is nice but very overpriced. Its a Rev2 for a start, I got a 95 Rev3 for the same money. I didn't look at that one, he has had it for a few months now.

As for the place in general... like anyone will tell you he is a wanker and he will give you a **** trade in. He was giving me €5000 for a 01 206 gti, the place I bough from gave me €7000. He has alot of cars, quite a few off them have been there for months or even years and are fairly rough others aren't. The guy that owns it(not the guy that runs it) has about 4/5 places including swords trade cars and per4mance cars.

I rang up about a car on friday (i think) and the guy was a complete wanker i'd be suprised if he sold any cars. Just for this I couldnt be bothered even lookin there for a car!

Jayus...doesn't sound like a great salesman, does he?
You've put me right off him now. Anyone got anything good to say about the place? :D

Few months you say. She looks like she's been sittin a while alright.
Where did you get your MR2 mloc123, if you don't mind me asking?

Some of his skylines are ridiculously overpriced too..

compare it to this: which is over €7,000 cheaper and less mileage

They have 200 cars in stock? They must be doing something right. Why did he come across as a bit of a prick, was he lying about the cars or did he appear to be not too interested in talking to customers or what?

Just saying hes a wanker isnt very helpful.
    I wouldnt mind buying this:

I've been told by many of my mates that he's a gangster and he'd give Del Boy a run for his money. He's very overpriced and as for trade in with him don't bother, he'll give you nothing.

    They are different cars

One is a 2wd GTS the other is a 4wd GTR.

I actually thought that was cheap for an R33 GTR.

    ^^

I was just about to point that out.
Would ye all say he's generally overpriced then?

Bought it out in S&B Motors in Lusk, alot of people will say he's dodgy too but he was nice to deal with and gave me a good price and trade in. He said most of his customers are people that got pissed off dealing with Dublin Jap Imports and went out to him instead.

    Hello all,
Im writing this response on behalf of per4mnace carz coolock, in a comment above someone wrote "The guy that owns it(not the guy that runs it) has about 4/5 places including swords trade cars and per4mance cars", just to clear this up, per4mance carz coolock has no affiliation with jap cars dublin at all, and looking at some of your comments we would not want to!!:) :)

    oh thats ok then :):)

But are you the same per4mance cars that told someone here to "fúck off" when they asked why the mileage on carzone was different to the mileage on the photos for the cars you put up?

We had a staff member who is now gone, who replied with those comments! We now operate in coolock industrial estate, and every car sold comes with the an auction sheet to verify mileage, and that the car has never been crashed. We offer warranty, nct gurantee, with every car sold!! visit www.pimpmybusiness.ie for details!!

It might be an idea not to give out your boards account details or your business email details, as it can be quite damaging as past history has shown by ronoc.

I know this thread is a few weeks old, but I was up with them today looking at a Ford Escort. Like some of the previous posters said, the salesman is a complete arrogant prick. I was pointing out some of the relatively minor faults with the car (boot release cable thingy not working and the radio not working) and he nearly ate the head of me and told me he decided he wasn't going to sell me the car because of my 'nitpicking'. What an asshole.

I'd stay away from them in future.

I would have given him a punch :)
He is a car seller so should be willing to show people cars and be happy if he gets a sale.

If the sales man has an attitude then I would walk away straight away. I know some dealerships, especially the ones dealing with Jap imports, would see a lot of scobies come in and want to test drive an Impreza STi or skyline when they are driving a crappy micra, and they probably get their fair share of dreamers too. However, if you are any half decent judge of character you could tell if most people are a genuine buyer or just a "test pilot." In fairness if you were only pointing out faults on the car and he could'nt handle your "nitpicking" he should probably go sell shoes instead of cars!:D
