Set up voice mail on PBX

Ok I know all systems are different, but what are the standard codes / things to do to set up mail greeting on a typical pbx system? It's months since I've had to change our voicemail in the office - and now at christmas - it's time to do it again and do you think I can remember what i have to do? Thoughts appreciated - oh…
