Roadworks clogging up the city

Yesterday morning (11:00) I was walking up Roches St., a road maintenence crew pulled up (double parked) a few feet back from the O'Connell St lights, no advance warning and started working on the left lane.

A few minutes later up near St. Joseph's Hospital a "Line Marking" crew were stopping all traffice to put down lines across the road. This morning at around 8:00 in the fog the crew were lining the middle of the road along Mulgrave St.

Finally this evening (and this takes the biscuit) there was crew working on the Caherdavin side of Thomond Bridge blocking the outgoing lane from the city - this is the main route from Dublin to Shannon. They were there from at least 17:30 to 19:30 with no advance warning signs, no flag man, no report on AA roadwatch and in terrible fog, is there any Health and Safety Guidelines for roadworks?

None of these jobs looked to be emergency works so they could easily be carried out during off peak hours if someone in the City Hall was actually responsible for their actions or gave a damn.

At the same time we hear that illegally parked cars will be towed away to allow traffic move freely in the run up to Christmas. Who's fooling who?

Garda car + a truck/driver complete with lift device (it could lift the complete car) ready to start loading ..... driver turned up and not looking very happy .... :(

I personally think double parked cars in limerick should be crushed !!!! .....
