Just checked my download limit and it's 5.5gb for the month of december so far, the only thing I can think of is I use youtube a lot. Would this account for that amount of usage?

Id expect youtube vids to be anything from 5mb to maybe 100 mb.
If you look at a lot of vids it will stack up for sure, when you consider there is 1,000 mb in 1 GB.
If you viewing a lot on youtube then 5.5 is no surprise.

Just to clarify.

1024MB in 1GB. It's a HUGE difference. The ISP's will calculate it at 1024MB, not the way storage makers calculate.

I wouldn't say 2.4% is HUGE! :D

Hmmm, I seem to have to do these figures AGAIN.
Base 1000 Base 1024 Difference in Bytes Percentage Difference
B 1000 1024 24 2.40%
KB 1000000 1048576 48576 4.86%
MB 1000000000 1073741824 73741824 7.37%
GB 1000000000000 1099511627776 99511627776 9.95%
TB 1000000000000000 1125899906842620 125899906842624 12.59%
NOW do you see?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I stand by my original "It's a HUGE difference". Think on the GB level, NOT the Byte level.

8 bits in a byte
1024 bytes in a mega byte
1024 megabytes in a gigabyte
1024 gigabytes in a terrabyte
etc.

This 1000 figure was brought about by the manufacturers of hard disks and flash drives etc so that they could market drives as 512MB but really have a size of about 480MB. They claim that the ordinary user thinks that 1024 multiples are too difficult to calculate. It's a joke. The fact of the matter is, the ordinary Joe Smith doesn't HAVE to calculate it. It's all about making as much money as possible out of us.

*EDIT* Table didn't come out properly so altered it. Added a little rant to the end too :)
*EDIT* Bah Humbug. Table wouldn't come out right. Just copy and paste into Excel if you REALLY can't view the table properly.
