    Hi,
I have a Myson Apollo gas central heating boiler with a Honeywell gas valve.. The pilot light has gone out and will not remain lit. I looked at the thermocouple on the pilot light and it looks damaged.

Can these be bought in a non specialized shop and can they be fitted by a novice? Otherwise are these in the armory of most plumbers?

Any help/advice would be apprecaited as I have some very cold American relations at the moment.

    Thanks

I found this crowd on the web quick to respond but maybe any heat merchants would be able to help you. They supplies me with a PCB in a couple of days. Don't know if they are any cheaper but a thermocouple is cheapish anyway.

It would help if you had the part number. I found out part numbers using this site

They had a lot of manuals and diagrams of the boilers. You have to install a plugin but it is very good.

Having said that gas is dangerous and I wouldn't be too inclined to mess with any of the gas connections.

    Thanks for the help.

I installed a thermocouple yesterday. I tested it a few times by blowing out the pilot light and after a few seconds the gas stopped.

So far so good, however I think it is time for a new boiler. Any suggestions?

    Thanks again.
