    Hi

Hope I am in the right forum to post this.

I was looking for a few quick pointers.

on Yahoo what is a cheap way to get a small web site submitted.

(its just a small 3 page brochure site for a self defence school)

Someone said you can pay a few dollars a month?

Can anyone push me in right direction re info on this?

Also I see godaddy.com got a software product which says they will submit your web site for ranking to all major search engines... is this worth it? does it work?

Its only like 9 dollars a year???

    Thanks

    G

Dont pay anybody to submit your website to searche engines.
It costs you nothing to submit to the search engines if you do it yourself

    Two most important search engines

    google http://www.google.com/addurl/
    yahoo http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html

The bulk of traffic to your website will come from google (80%+)

The best and quickest way to have your website show up in the search engines is to have other websites link to yours.

Best of luck with your website!

    Hi Fintan

Thanks for the info. I have done free submit to google and yahoo and MSN too.

Once it is done...do you leave it.... or should you submit it every month or so... like re submit the URL.

I am also reading a book on google ad words...and may do something simple and cheap on there.

this is for a part-time hobby business. and I expect just to make pocket money from it... so
I do not want rack up massive marketing expenses.

so re the Links... if I get a links page and trade off links with other link pages on similar web sites?

Also someone said if you put your web URL on your signature on forums and post alot...that helps too?

    Thanks

    Gerry

Manually submitting can take months before you are indexed. The easiest way to be indexed by the search engines is to have links to your website from other sites.

You can also manually submit a site index to google here

I think you will find better help on this forum
