Sony headunit & steering wheel control adaptor problems in Opel Astra

I have a 2002 Opel Astra with a factory fitted VDO CDR500 Radio. I ordered a Sony MEXBT5000 from the States. I didn't want to lose the steering wheel controls, so I emailed the guys at incarexpress.co.uk who sell that particular Sony stereo and steering remote adaptors and asked what adaptor I would need for the Sony MEXBT5000. They recommended the Connects2 DOPS004 Vauxhall Dash Display & Stalk Interface. http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=DOPS004


My Sony stereo and Connects2 DOPS004 steering remote adaptor arrived today.

My aul lad was messing about with the connections earlier and reckons the Sony headunit and the Connects2 steering adaptor are just not compatible with one another. I know nothing about installing car radios. Tbh I don't really see how I'd connect the Sony loom in the back of the BT5000 headunit to the Connects2 steering adaptor as they just don't fit.


I'd appreciate any input

you can get cables in halfords that'll allow you to keep your controls with your headunit.I gotem for my 01astra coue to connect it to a sony headunit.
theyre simple to fit and about €60 in total.
