Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Getting broadband shortly and wondering about wireless router. House is two stories but upper floor is hollowcore (rather than joists and floorboards).

Wondering if hollocore floor will impact on wireless signal meaning that I'll only be able to use laptop on one floor of the house.

Its been suggested to me that I should locate router in hallway at bottom of stairs so that signal can more eaily get upstairs via the stairway.

Any experiences with similar set up would be appreciated.

It depends on the strength and quality of your router. If its an ongoing problem u can get signal boosters which work kinda like beam-benders on a small scale. Strange things can effect quality, mirrors, thickness of walls, windows, outside interference. Its kinda a trial and error type situation.

If you really are worried about obstructions then you may consider a Mimo capable router

A particular one that includes the technology is netgears rangemax line

RangeMax WPN824 Wireless router product info

RangeMax is an advanced Smart MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology that uses seven
internal antennas. RangeMax constantly surveys your home environment for physical barriers
and interference and adjusts the wireless signal to compensate for these performance blockers. For
example, if you carry your laptop from the family room to the bedroom, RangeMax automatically
senses the change and selects from over 100 possible antenna configurations to deliver you the
fastest, clearest connection! Everyone will enjoy consistently high-speed connections, everywhere
in your house – no drop-outs, and no dead spots.
