Ok so i had to send my mobo away to mobo heaven (DOA).

So it meant i had to take the hs off my processor (E6600)

Now what im wondering is will the thermal grease on the processor still be ok to just put the HS back on when the mobo gets back? since im not even sure if it was used.

If it does need to be replaced then what should i get?
Also what can be used to remove the old stuff and how do i do it?
would i not be creating dangerous static by rubbing it?

    Thanks,

    Shane

p.s sorry if its in the wrong place

Well i used a small ammount of white spirits(just enough to wet it) on some Kitchen roll.

White spirits doesn't conduct electricity so its not like water on that front. Juat don't get it anywhere you shouldn't.

If you're interested i think arctic silver have a specific hing to get rid of it.

Many people use nail varnish remover.
