Just seen the pics of the Jag XF concept (new S-Type) in the Feb issue of CAR Magazine (not supposed to be on shelves 'til Jan I think - just came across it). The finished car will not be quite as radical - head/tail-lights and interior will be less radical. But I like it! A lot! Pics also here:

Follows in the latest Jag habit of being Aston-like (which is fine by me) The Merc CLS really set the trend for coupe-like saloons...

Yes, looks like the saloon that Aston Martin always wanted.

I like it. Looks Aston-ish but yet it doesn't.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I like it. But will it work for Jaguar, a brand that has always specialised in cars that look really old fashioned?

Well the E-type & original XJ were pretty advanced for their time so I don't think this is really true. Recent Jags - the S-type & XJ in paricular are a bit too 'retro' and have been a sales flop. So I don't think it's a risk - they can't really do any worse...

Jaguar need a 'hit' to revitalise the brand - like Aston had with the DB7 back in the '90s...

I'll concede on the looks of the E-type, but that's one car in what, 45 years since its introduction?

I agree Jaguar needs some sort of 'hit' because they're on the brink of collapse and US companies (i.e. Ford) have no scrupules about cutting of their own limbs when the bottom line hasn't been looking right for a bit

A very modern looking car though? I'd love to see it work for them but I have my doubts...

They have the ball rolling with the XK, but hopefully the XF will clinch it for Jag. I'm biased :p
