Wireless to ethernet

I just disconnected my dlink wireless router because its acting up, and im trying to use a ethernet into my mac. But its having problems renewing the ip address. Is there anything im not doing? Im using ntl broadband.

Turn off the NTL broadband for a while. It is probabily locked to "mac address" of the dlink router.
