Of course for the most memorable thing i remember that made me wanna play a game more than breathe, look not further than the Zelda OTT commercial.

Some great ones already mentioned (particularly Fallout and Mechwarrior 2), but some of my favourites don't seem to have been:

The misrepresentative action-comic stylings of the first UFO/X-com

The incredibly cheesy yet equally enjoyable opening FMV and bad pop song to Soul Blade on the PSX

I also really liked the intro to Terminator 2 on the c64 at the time. A slow pan up a huge picture of a T-800 endoskeleton on a fiery background with the iconic duh-dun duh-dun DUN music playing. Sheer class.

Wipeout 1 and Wipeout 2. Starwing on the SNES

I remember being blown off my feet by the intro to Panzeer Dragoon on the Saturn.

I also loved the menu screen for Sonic CD with it's superfast 3D sky :D Great bit of music there too...

Shadow of the Beast 2 had an amazing and imaginative animation sequence to kick things off and really took my breath away when I first saw it.
