Armed guards in city centre this evening?

    Does anyone know why there was an armed police checkpoint on that street off Amiens street (the one with the memorial for heroin 'victims', I think) around tea time today?

    My boyfriend took a wrong turn and we ended up getting stopped there, there was about 10 guards, several of them in baseball cap and armed..

    Thats the Garda ERU, action men types. Probably as a result of a fued in the area.

    I have seen this a few times in that area,as said its just a show of strength these days there does not have to be a reason for armed guards to be around.
